Thanksgiving 2011

This year for Thanksgiving we celebrated with the Counselmans - they are very close family friends of Sean's and they have a daughter/granddaughter who is only four months older than Hayden. Her name is Avery and we thought it would be fun for Hayden to play with her. (Plus, we hadn't done a holiday with them for something like five years.) There were some hiccups though, partly because Hayden isn't used to having to stand up for herself with other kids and partly because Avery can be just a bit bossy. In general, though, it was interesting to see them interact because they are pretty different.

For example, one of the first things Avery wanted to do with Hayden, was play dress up. Hayden had never really played that before, but was game to try it, twice actually. The funny thing was that after she got the dresses on (with my help), she didn't know what to do or why it was fun to be dressed up. (I'm oddly, sorta proud about that.) Avery also helped Hayden put on "lipstick" (lip gloss), which Hayden seemed fine with, but not overly thrilled. (Again, proud.)

They did have a free gum ball machine, which Hayden tried and she actually sorta got the concept of gum this time. She didn't swallow any of it, I don't think. And apparently, it was a hit, because she proactively mentioned that she liked it today. (That's my girl!)
